Information for schools

The Music Hub offers a range of services to support Music Education within both primary and secondary schools and academies and SEND schools across Peterborough. The Peterborough Music Hub works with many schools across the region and provides practical support and constructive advice on music provision within educational settings.

Kirsten Goldthrop  is the Peterborough Music Hub’s Schools’ co-ordinator and she can be contacted via kirsten.goldthorp@peterborough.gov.uk

Regular Music Coordinator’s meetings, and SEN Steering group, performance opportunities, instrument loan, whole class instrumental tuition, a registered music teacher scheme and CPD sessions are all offered through the Peterborough Music Hub across the year.

Whole Class Instrumental Tuition (WCIT)

This scheme is provided for primary and junior schools and offers instrumental tuition to whole class groups. WCIT offers high quality provision for schools in support of the Music Curriculum requirements of the National Plan for Music Education. Music Hubs are charged with reporting local engagement of the programme to Ofsted.

Bursaries and Free Instrument Loan

Bursaries are available to children and young people for a range of music activities (further information can be found in this folder). The Peterborough Music Hub can also provide free instrument loan to schools and students (subject to availability). Email musichub@peterborough.gov.uk for more details.

Continuing Professional Development

CPD training is offered throughout the year across a range of subjects. Courses are delivered by Music Education Specialists, local music industry professionals and national companies and visiting artists.

Workshops and Performance Opportunities

The Music Hub provides music workshops and performance opportunities delivered by local specialist partner organisations and national companies.
